When PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut gave Gabriel’s Stitches the opportunity to create a one-of-one custom jacket for Don Omar and The Last King World Tour, I knew this project had to represent more than just my work. It had to represent Puerto Rican culture, Connecticut, and the story behind Gabriel’s Stitches.

For nearly three weeks, I worked through four different design concepts, going back and forth with my digitizer, reworking details and figuring out how to bring the final vision to life through custom embroidery. There were nights I worked until 3:00 in the morning knowing I still had to get up for work the next day. Then the Dickies jackets arrived, XL Tall instead of regular XL. I had one regular XL to get it right, while four XL Talls were left hanging on the rack. There wasn't much room for error.

But that pressure became part of the story. Every detail mattered because I wasn't just making another custom jacket. I was creating something for an artist whose music and Puerto Rican roots have reached people around the world, while also representing Hartford and Connecticut, the place where I was trusted to create it.

The finished jacket brought those worlds together in one piece, Puerto Rico, Connecticut, Don Omar, The Last King World Tour, and Gabriel’s Stitches. What started as an opportunity became long nights, problem-solving, four different designs, one finished jacket, and a moment I’ll never forget.
